House Committee commends MAN Oron leadership.

The House Committee on Maritime Affairs has formally commended the administration of the Maritime Academy in Oron under the leadership of Commandant Okonna. In a recent review, committee members praised notable improvements in institutional governance, training standards, and infrastructural development that, they stated, align the academy more closely with national and international maritime best practices.

The committee highlighted the administration’s commitment to enhancing cadet welfare, modernizing training curricula, and ensuring regulatory compliance. These measures were credited with improving the academy’s operational readiness and strengthening its capacity to produce competent maritime professionals.

Acknowledging the progress achieved, the committee urged sustained investment and continued oversight to consolidate gains and address remaining challenges. It further encouraged collaboration between the academy, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to foster innovation and maintain high standards of maritime education.

The commendation reinforces the academy’s role as a critical institution for Nigeria’s maritime sector and reflects confidence in the Okonna administration’s stewardship and strategic direction.
